Baggage
Austrian allows passengers to take a cabin bag on board. It should always meet the size and weight restrictions specified by the airlines. They may vary depending on the booking class and the destination.
There are also specific dimensions and weight limits for the checked-in baggage. They depend on the booking class and the route too.
Travel Classes
Austrian passengers can choose between three booking classes: Economy, Premium Economy, and Business.
Economy Class seats are 44 cm wide with a pitch of approx. 80 cm and recline 120 degrees. Passengers can also enjoy video-on-demand.
Since the spring of 2018, the new travel class – Premium Economy – has been available on long-haul flights. The entire fleet and onboard facilities have been refurbished to offer, e.g., convenient footrests and headrests, touch screen monitors, power sockets, and USB ports.
Short and medium-haul Business Class provides extra legroom and leather seats. During long-haul flights, Business Class passengers are guaranteed to have an empty seat next to them which offers additional comfort.
Online Check-in
Online check-in is available from 36 to 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure time. Web check-in process includes seat selection. The boarding pass should be either printed out or downloaded on the mobile device.
Fleet
Austrian Airlines operates one of the youngest and the most modern aircraft fleets in Europe. The average age of Airbuses and Boeings owned by the company stands at just around 6 years.
Diversified fleet allows the carrier to meet clients’ expectations as well as to adapt to the conditions on the routes served.
Austrian Airlines currently operates a fleet of 42 aircraft.
Vienna International Airport
The hub for Austrian Airlines is located in Schwechat, 18 kilometers from the city center of Vienna. Terminals T1 and T2 are situated in the same building; there is also a separated A1 Terminal, serving low-cost airlines, and VIP Terminal. The new Terminal 3, known as “Skylink” has been operating at Vienna Airport since 2012.
Currently, the airport handles approx. 30 million passengers every year.
At the airport, there are ATMs, money exchange points, post offices, and a 24-hour medical center as well as plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Vienna Airport also offers passengers free wireless Internet access in all areas.
In-flight Meals
Economy class passengers traveling on short-haul routes are provided with light refreshments and meals. During long-haul flights with Austrian, they can choose between two menu options and are also offered soft drinks and a snack before landing.
On short-haul routes, Business Class ticket holders can enjoy a light breakfast and delicious main meal. For those traveling a long distance, there are three main courses to choose from as well as soups and appetizers and a wide selection of beverages.
Additional Services
On long-haul routes, passengers can enjoy interactive onboard entertainment system with the selection of movies, music channels, and video games.
The youngest Austrian travelers are provided with toys, puzzles, and games as well as dedicated kids’ menu.
