Alesund
Ålesund is a port town on Norway's western coast, in the Møre og Romsdal region. It lies where the fjords meet the Norwegian Sea, spread across a peninsula and several islands. The town is an important centre of fishing and fish processing. In 1904 it burned to the ground, and its reconstruction in Art Nouveau style now draws visitors. Ålesund has around 40 thousand inhabitants. The climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and cool summers. The best time to visit is summer, when the days are long and clear.
