Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city, located in the north of the country on the Ping river. It is home to around 1.2 million people. It is known for its rich history dating back to the 13th century, when it was founded by King Mangrai as the capital of the Lanna kingdom. The old town draws visitors with its many historic temples, such as Wat Phra Singh. Thanks to the tropical climate, the best time to visit Chiang Mai is from November to February, when temperatures are milder.
