Arrecife
Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, is a bustling port town nestled on the Atlantic coast. Home to approximately 64,645 inhabitants, this Spanish city spans an area of 22.72 square kilometres. Its name, meaning "reef" in Spanish, pays homage to the rock formation shielding its beach. Ferries regularly shuttle from its harbour to other Canary Islands, Europe, and Africa, while Arrecife Airport offers wider connectivity. Land travel is facilitated by LZ1, LZ2, and LZ3 roads. The city's skyline is dominated by the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the tallest building in Lanzarote. Tracing its roots back to a 15th-century fishing settlement, Arrecife grew into a significant trade hub by the late 16th century. The city's hot desert climate ensures minimal rainfall, predominantly during winter. The best time to visit is in the milder spring and autumn months.
