    Batumi
Batumi, set in south-west Georgia on the Black Sea, is the capital of the autonomous republic of Adjara. It is the country's second largest city, with 179.1 thousand inhabitants. It is home to a commercial and industrial port, a refinery and a teacher training college. Batumi blends Christian and Muslim influences, which shows in its varied architecture, for instance in the 19th-century Turkish mosque. Its subtropical climate makes summer warm and ideal for a visit, with temperatures of around 25 °C.
