Inverness
Inverness, set in northern Scotland where the River Ness flows into the Moray Firth, is the key centre of the Highlands region. The city has around 44,180 inhabitants and is an important port as well as a gateway to Loch Ness. The reconstructed Macbeth's castle and the ruins of Urquhart Castle are both worth a visit.
