Sarajevo
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is located in the central part of the country, surrounded by the Dinaric Alps. Home to about 275,000 people, it neighbors East Sarajevo. The city was founded in 1462 by the Ottoman Turks and is renowned as the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. It also hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics. Average temperatures in summer range from 18 to 25 °C, while in winter they are between -1 and 5 °C. Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to explore the city, with mild weather.
