Ulaanbaatar
Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, lies in the central-eastern part of the country on the Tuul River. Surrounded by four mountain massifs, it sits at an altitude of around 1350 m above sea level. It is Mongolia's largest city, with roughly 1.145 million inhabitants. Ulaanbaatar's history goes back to 1639, when it was founded as a nomadic seat of religious leaders. The city offers a rich history and culture, blending tradition with modernity. The best time to visit is summer, when the temperature is around 20°C.
