    Serbia
Serbia is a country in Southern Europe, located on the Balkan Peninsula. Its capital is Belgrade, and the national currency is the Serbian dinar. With a statehood dating back to the Middle Ages, modern-day Serbia became a republic in 2006. The country shares borders with, among others, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. Since 2012, Serbia has held candidate status for European Union membership. The country experiences a continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters. Spring and autumn are the ideal seasons to visit, when temperatures are milder.
