Lebanon
Lebanon, located in Western Asia, sits along the Mediterranean Sea and shares borders with Syria and Israel. Its capital, Beirut, is home to over 2 million people. Arabic is the official language, with French also widely used. Lebanon is a parliamentary republic, with a president elected every six years. Major cities include Tripoli, Zahle, Sidon, Baalbek, and Tyre. The country’s mountainous landscape, dotted with snow-capped peaks, makes spring and autumn the ideal seasons to visit, when temperatures are pleasantly mild. The Lebanese pound is the local currency.
